The 2nd Annual Michael D. Chandler Memorial Car Show will take place on June 27 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wood Avenue East near the Big Stone Gap Visitors Center in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The event will feature classic cars, muscle cars, jeeps, motorcycles, and trucks. Entry is $20 per car or bike, which includes a chance to win a brand-new 350 engine from O’Reilly Auto Parts, available exclusively to participants who are present. Additional prizes include door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Awards will be presented after 6 p.m. in several categories, including Knight Rider’s Choice, Best in Show, Top 10, Best Motorcycle, Best Classic Car, Best Truck, and Best Jeep. All proceeds support the Michael D. Chandler Memorial Endowed Scholarship benefiting students pursuing law enforcement and corrections careers at Mountain Empire Community College. The car show will also serve as the kickoff for the Town of Big Stone Gap’s 4th of July Extravaganza, offering live music, bounce houses, the sand pit, and food.
