The Rats Nest Run In Rat Rod Wheel Barrow Build Off and Charity Auction will take place on August 15, 2026, in Durham, New York. The event invites six teams of up to three people each to build and race custom rat rod wheel barrows. All teams receive identical materials and tools, including a wheel barrow, steel, wheels, tires, axles, and hand tools. Each team also gets a $100 voucher to spend with vendors on the main field, aiming to make their builds unique.
Teams will start by submitting a crayon drawing of their build, with a bonus prize for the team whose creation best matches their sketch. After one hour to spend their vouchers, teams have six hours to complete their wheel barrow builds. The finished machines will undergo a basic test for movement before being auctioned off, with proceeds going to a local charity.
