A Chance to Shine 2021: The Best of Both Worlds!
Last year, we restructured our annual A Chance to Shine ride and walk to a virtual event. Thanks to our amazing community, we raised over $100,000 for the Parent Child Resource Center. This year, we're combining the best of both worlds and holding a virtual bike ride with an in-person walk at Quarry Walk in Oxford, Connecticut.
We'll kickoff on July 31 with a virtual bike ride and conclude the 2021 event on August 14 with a 10 a.m. walk and celebration at Quarry Walk. Register for one or both here: https://secure.qgiv.com/event/acts2/register/
We're excited to have WPLR's Chaz and AJ host their epic Classic Car Show! We'll have live music by Social Convention, The Elwoods, Morgan Skelly & The Old Crows, kids' activities, Touch-a-Truck and some special surprises up our sleeves. All funds raised will support the children and families at the Parent Child Resource Center. The car show will begin at 11 a.m. following the PCRC walk.
The need for children's mental health services is greater than ever. The Covid-19 pandemic impacted our clients significantly. Children and families had to quickly adapt with the sudden changes in our world due to the health crisis.
The Parent Child Resource Center is seeing a lot more children with severe anxiety, isolation, and depression. From March 2020 through December 2020, our clinicians provided nearly 11,000 telehealth appointments. The solution is to have more access to mental health resources.
